    Design tools for ontology-based network communication protocols

    Internet of Things has evolved quickly and reached to every aspect of our lives over the years. The number of new heterogeneous, distributed devices and applications connecting to the Internet is growing exponentially every day. As a result, data interoperability has become a prerequisite for IoT networks. However, the current infrastructures and communication protocols do not provide a convenient way for applications from different domains to interpret and process each other’s data, which is stored in vastly diversified, non-standardized formats. Due to this lack of common ground, in many cases, the integration overhead hinders organisations from exchanging their data to generate business values. Semantic technologies would be a promising solution for these issues, thanks to its ability to capture the high-level meaning of data. Asema is developing SmartAPI, a semantics-based API framework for sharing data between IoT systems. This thesis work is a part of SmartAPI project, focuses on designing and developing a data designer application. I build a single page web application with a modern graphical user interface, allowing users to create, organise and share data models

    A stochastic model of the influence of buffer gas collisions on Mollow spectra

    In this paper we consider the influence of collisional fluctuations on the Mollow spectra of resonance fluorescence (RF). The fluctuations are taken into account by a simple shift of the constant detuning, involved in a set of optical Bloch equations by collision frequency noise which is modelled by a two-step random telegraph signal (RTS). We consider in detail the Mollow spectra for RF in the case of an arbitrary detuning of the laser frequency, where the emitter is a member of a statistical ensemble in thermodynamic equilibrium with the buffer gas at temperature TT which is treated as a colored environment, and velocity vv is distributed with the Maxwell-Boltzmann density

    Towards Developing the Smart Cultural Heritage Management of the French Colonial Villas in Hanoi, Vietnam

    Hanoi city was formed and inherited a unique urban heritage. Among them are the French-colonial Villas, which were constructed in the pre–1954 period. During the development process, the local government and community have always paid special attention to these heritage sites and organized many conservation and research activities. However, the management and preservation of these sites are still facing many challenges under pressure from urbanization, environmental impact, leading to the risk of being invaded and destroyed. The objective of this paper is to discuss the potential of developing the management strategy for French colonial villas in Hanoi within contemporary society using the concept of the Smart Cultural Heritage. The authors believe that will support various cultural services as well as promoting and preserving cultural heritage. It does so by presenting the results of the survey of the status of villas in the French period in Hanoi to classify and evaluate establish the regulation of use management and value conservation, build up the Big Data system. At the same time, the proposal will use smart platforms and participatory processes to encourage community access to raise awareness and assess the villas' value

    Reducing the impacts of intra-class spectral variability on the accuracy of soft classification and super-resolution mapping of shoreline

    The main objective of this research is to assess the impact of intra-class spectral variation on the accuracy of soft classification and super-resolution mapping. The accuracy of both analyses was negatively related to the degree of intra-class spectral variation, but the effect could be reduced through use of spectral sub-classes. The latter is illustrated in mapping the shoreline at a sub-pixel scale from Landsat ETM+ data. Reducing the degree of intra-class spectral variation increased the accuracy of soft classification, with the correlation between predicted and actual class coverage rising from 0.87 to 0.94, and super-resolution mapping, with the RMSE in shoreline location decreasing from 41.13 m to 35.22 m

    Aiming to the superior of phosphor pattern: Influence of SiO2 nanoparticles on photoluminescence intensification of YAG:Ce

    Yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG: RE) rare-earth-doped phosphors have great photoluminescence (PL) characteristics and are commonly used in light-emitting rectifying tubes. The RE elements used in these phosphors, however, are precious and in shortage. The production of phosphorus containing a limited amount of RE content is therefore essential. One solution is to manufacture Nano composite phosphors that use an inexpensive and more easily available content as a matrix for RE oxide. In this research, we developed a YAG: Ce/SiO2 Nano composite using a sol-gel procedure; in order to impulse micelle formation and agglomeration, poly (ethylene glycol) and urea have been added, respectively. X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to characterize the Nano composites. In proposing an explanation for this enhancement, we defined the concentration of SiO2 that produced optimum PL enhancement and used geometric models as well as the characterization consequences. Our results demonstrated that a 10% SiO2 concentration produced a 120% PL intensity of pure YAG:Ce. TEM analysis revealed that SiO2 nanoparticles filled the voids between the YAG:Ce crystals' single grain borders, hence inhibiting light scattering, resulting in increased PL. This procedure would be beneficial for the synthesis of low-RE and high-PL phosphors on a wide scale
